How It Works

DO SONAKI SHOWERS AFFECT WATER PRESSURE?

Neither Sonaki Hand Showers or the VitaPure In-line filters have a negative affect on water pressure.

HOW DOES THE VITAMIN C FILTER WORK TO REMOVE CHLORINE AND CHLORAMINES FROM WATER?

SONAKI Australia’s Vitamin-C Shower Filters utilise 100% ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) chemistry for dechlorination. As water passes through the filter housing, the ascorbic acid instantly neutralises chlorine, chloramines and other harmful substances such as trihalomethanes.  There patented impeller system circulates near the top of the filter and allowing the right amount of Vitamin C to be released to neutralise these harmful chemicals. This unique process makes SONAKI Vitamin C filters the most efficient and economical shower filters available.

WHAT ARE FIR & ANIONS?

Far Infra Red radiation (FIR) and Negative Ions (Anions);FIR activates water and reduces the size of water clusters. Smaller water clusters are absorbed better and provide more benefits to the skin, hair and blood stream. FIR is also known to help increase blood circulation and metabolism, and reduce body toxins.Negative ions are known to help enhance the immune system, increase oxygen in the blood, increase metabolism, reduce toxins and help protect against the harmful effects of chlorine on the skin.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SONAKI VITAPURE VITAMIN C FILTERS COMPARED TO OTHER TYPES OF FILTERS?

Vitamin-C is the safest dechlorination media available today. It instantly neutralises chlorine and Chloramine Disinfection By-products .Vitamin C filters are also environmentally friendly and the Vitamin-C shower filter works for any water temperature and any water pressure. The In line combo filter with PureMax Filter delivers another level of protection by filtering sediment, bacteria, metals , chlorine, chloramines, THM, Phenol and metals.

WHAT DOES THE SONAKI VITAMIN C FILTERS CONTAIN?

The filtration media is 100% Pharmaceutical Grade Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid. Sonaki Australia vitamin is completely free of any additives. It is non toxic and safe for aquatic life.

WHAT IS THE SONAKI VITAMIN C SHOWER FILTERING MEDIA?

IS IT EASY TO INSTALL A SONAKI HAND SHOWER OR IN-LINE SHOWER?

Yes, If you have purchased a Sonaki hand shower and you already have a hand held shower at your home, you simply remove the existing shower head from the hose and replace it with a SONAKI Australia shower head. It should take under a minute.
To accommodate those who you don’t have a hand held shower system, we have a set with easy installation instructions. It takes under 10 minutes. Much quicker than taking a shower.

If you are installing an in line filter we recommend you have or purchase a swept shower arm. The unit is installed onto the outlet or shower arm and locked via an hexagonal locking nut; your existing shower or Sonaki hand shower can then be attached on to the filter housing. One Sonaki Australia Vitamin Filter cartridge will filter up to 10,000 litres, depending on the frequency and duration of use it typically lasts approximately 5-8 weeks (based on a flow rate of 7.5 litres/min). Individual shower expected performance can be calculated by average shower time multiplied by flow rate and number of showers per day to give a weekly usage figure.

HOW ARE PEOPLE EXPOSED TO CHLORINE?

You are exposed to a cocktail of chemicals whenever you use water treated with chlorine or chloramines.  The most damaging  exposure to these chemicals is via inhalation of steam and skin absorption when you take a shower. Your body may absorb as much chlorine and  Volatile Organic Compounds in one 10 minute shower than from drinking eight full glasses of unfiltered water.

WHAT ARE CHLORAMINES and TCM’s?

Chloramine is now increasingly in use to treat public water supplies.Chloramines are derivatives of ammonia by substitution of one, two or three hydrogen atoms with chlorine atoms: monochloramine (chloroamine, NH2Cl), dichloramine (NHCl2), and nitrogen trichloride (NCl3).[1] The term chloramine also refers to a family of organic compounds with the formulas R2NCl and RNCl2 (R is an organic group).Chloramine has been implicated as a mutagen and as a toxic agent for aquatic life, hence the US EPA proposes to prohibit its use in drinking water.

Trihalomethanes are formed as a by-product predominantly when Chlorine or Chloramine is used to disinfect water for drinking. They represent one group of chemicals generally referred to as disinfection by-products. They result from the reaction of chlorine or bromine with organic matter present in the water being treated. The THMs produced have been associated through epidemiological studies with some adverse health effect.

WHAT ARE THE COMMOM WATER DISINFECTANTS USED IN AUSTRALIA?

Chlorine and chloramines are the most widely used disinfectant for public water supplies in Australia. Some water authorities may also use chlorine dioxide, ozone and/or UV irradiation.

WHAT IS CHLORINE?

By definition, chlorine is a chemical element with symbol Cl and atomic number 17. Chlorine is a non-metallic element occurring naturally as a poisonous, greenish-yellow gas with an irritating, pungent odour, and it is a powerful oxidant.

WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF VITAMIN DECHLORINATION ?

Vitamin C has been used since late last century by US Forestry Service to treat chlorine water before discharge. It also has a history in the medical industry, it is used to treat dialysis patients, where the introduction of chlorinated water or toxic chemical would be extremely harmful to the patients health.
